This study aims to determine the teacher's role in motivating students to take part
in religious activities at school. The role of the teacher is very much needed in
advancing the nation's education, every lesson that will be studied either at school
or outside of school activities really requires the role of a teacher as a guide,
coach, coach or as a motivator. The purpose of this research is first to find out the
role of Islamic religious education teachers in motivating students to take part in
religious activities at SMA Negeri 3 Merangin, second to explain the factors that
cause students to be less interested in participating in religious activities at SMA
Negeri 3 Merangin and third is to find out the strategy used by Islamic religious
education teachers in motivating students to take part in religious activities at
SMA Negeri 3 Merangin. The research method used in this study is a qualitative
method with data collection techniques used in this study, namely observation,
interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the role of
Islamic religious education teachers in motivating students to take part in religious
activities at SMA Negeri 3 Merangin has been tried as much as possible and has
also been implemented properly. By looking at the factors that cause students to
be less motivated, which are mostly caused by circumstances or those caused by
the students' own psychological factors. From these factors, a strategy is made by
the teacher so that students are motivated, such as creating a fun presentation
system. this will provide a way for Islamic religious education teachers to carry
out their roles as educators, mentors, coaches and even trainers.
