The goal of this research are to identify three types of deixis and to analyze the referential
meaning of the deixis that are used in the lyrics in the lyrics of Frozen II soundtrack songs.
The writer chose the Frozen II soundtrack songs as the object of research because of the
popularity of the soundtrack songs and and its movie. Furthermore, the other reason is
because many deictic words were found in the lyrics of Frozen II soundtrack songs which
have some referential meanings. In consequence of this, the writer used the pragmatic
approach to analyze the lyrics of the songs regarding deixis. This research uses a descriptive
qualitative method. There are 8 songs from Frozen II sountrack that are used as the data of
this research, which are then classified into deixis types based on the criteria for each deixis
type. The results of this research show that the three types of deixis, namely person deixis,
spatial deixis, and temporal deixis are used in the lyrics of the Frozen II soundtrack songs.
The use of person deixis indicates participants or actors in the song which consists of first
person pronouns, second person pronouns and third person pronouns. In addition, spatial
deixis shows the place or location of the events that occur in the songs. The last type, namely
temporal deixis, shows the time of the events that mentioned in the songs. In this research,
person deixis was found to be the dominant type in the Frozen II soundtrack.
