This study discussed the figurative in poetry from John Milton because of this
researcher gave the title of this study "Figurative Language Analysis in John
Milton's Poems". Figurative language often provides the most effective way to
express feelings emotionally by saying what people mean that people mean
rather than statements directly. In a special sense of figurative language in
which there is a style. The language will affect the clarity of a person's figure
catch through beautiful words. The purpose of this study is 1). Explain the
figurative language found in John Milton's poems selected). 2). To explain the
contextual meaning of figurative languages in the poem from John Milton
poems in this study, to find out the types of figurative languages and contextual
meanings, researchers use qualitative descriptive designs with reference to the
theory of Perrine and Pateda to answer the formulation of the problem. In
collecting research data using the documentation technique. The techniques
used in analyzing data in this study are descriptive techniques. The results of
this study are: 1). I am able to bring six poems and there are five figurative
language types, namely metaphors, personifications, metonymy, hyperbole, and
symbol. 2). The contextual meaning of figurative language has twelve data used
by six john milton poems. There are five metaphors, four personifications, five
metonymy, one hyperbole, and symbol.
