Title : Students' Difficulties in Writing Research Proposal in the English
Education Study Program at UIN STS Jambi

This research aims to determine the difficulties faced by students in writing
research proposals in the English Education Study Program at UIN STS Jambi.
This research uses qualitative research methods, using observation sheets and
interview in collecting data. Based on the results of data collection, researchers
found that there are three factors of difficulties experienced by students in writing
research proposals. The first is psychological factors, namely lack of confidence,
anxiety and lack of motivation. Second is sociocultural factors, namely social
distance between students and the society, and social distance between students
and advisors. And the last is linguistic factors, namely grammar and vocabulary.
