Title : The Effect of Using the Before, During, and After
Reading Strategy on Reading Comprehension at
MTS Negeri 6 Jambi City

This research aims to determine the effect of using the Before, During and
After Reading Strategy on students' reading skills at MTsN 6 Jambi City. This
research is quantitative and was conducted using a quasi-experimental design.
This research used the Before, During and After Reading strategy, a teaching
technique to improve students' understanding of a text. The results showed that
the average post-test score (70.95) was higher than the average pre-test score
(52.57). This means that (H a1) is accepted. That is, there is a significant effect on
students' reading skills after being given treatment. Based on the results of the
analysis carried out on the paired sample test, it is known that the sig (2-tailed)
value is more than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05), and the researcher calculated the t-count
value is greater than the t-table value (-11.852) < (2.028). Then it can be
concluded that (Ha2) is rejected. There is no significant influence between reading
skills after and before using Before, During and After Reading strategy. The
treatment given in the control group is conventional way or lecturing strategy
conducted for approximately 6 meetings.
