Eldia Pranesti : Cyberbullying in script of the Disconnect

Cyberbullying occurs outside the public view and far from the reach of the
public, parents and caring people. Cyberbullying is an aggressive and
deliberate act by a group of people and individuals by using electronic media as
a medium to attack victims. This research focuses on cyberbullying using the
script of the film Disconnect (2012). This study aims to (1) explain the
characteristics of cyberbullying, (2) explain about the factors that affect
cyberbullying, (3) and finally about the impact of cyberbullying. To achieve
the research question, the researcher used theory to analyze data, namely the
theory from Willard (2005) about the character of cyberbullying, the theory
from Patchin and Hinuja (2020) about the actor that affects cyberbullying. and
the theory from Smith and Doe (2023) about the positive impact of
cyberbullying. As well as a theory from Robin (2001) about the negative
impact of cyberbullying. This research method is a qualitative research
method, which provides a detailed overview of the data studied. And using
documentation techniques as a data collection method. In a study on
cyberbullying, researchers found (1) The characteristics of cyberbullying
include the characteristics of the perpetrators and the characters victim of
cyberbullying, namely outing and trickery, plaming, impersonation,
harassment, and cyberstalking. The character perpebrators of the cyberbullying
is a demonstrated cyberbullying perpetrator, lack of empathy, personal issues,
and a history of violence or intimidation. The character victims of
cyberbullying response emosional and psychology, and behavior change. And
(2) it was also found about the factors that influence of cyberbullying, namely
about personal factors, environmental factors, and external factors. And (3) the
impact of cyberbullying includes the positive impact and negative impact of
cyberbullying. The positive impacts of cyberbullying are awareness, solidarity
and empathy. The negative impacts of cyberbullying include stress, depression,
suicide, and the impact of cyberbullying on the perpetrator. Based on an
analysis centered on cyberbullying, the evidence found about cyberbullying is
realized and discussed cyberbullying is a unique research because
cyberbullying is rampant in this modern era.
