The objective of this research is to find out wether or not the use of Jeopardy
Game is effective to teach grammar mastery especially simple present tense at the
seventh grade students of SMP N 9 Tanjung Jabung Timur in academic year
2021/2022. The method of this research of quasi experimental design, which
included design with pre-test and post-test. The sample of this research is 58
students, which are consisted of 29 students of 7A as the experimental class and
29 students of 7B as the control class. The sampling technique that is used was
purposive sampling. The researcher conducted pre-test and post-test. From the
data that has been analyzed, the researcher conducted pre-test and post-test
consisting of 25 multiple choice and essay items. In analyzing the data, the writer
used T-test. The result of the calculation showed that in the significance degree
(α) of 5% is T-test (t0) > T-table (tt) or (2.12 > 1.673). It means the null
hypothesis (H0) is rejected and alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. It means
that there is a significant effect between the students‘ grammar mastery especially
simple present tense through Jeopardy game and without Jeopardy game. The
student who has highest score of simple present tense is similarty having highest
score of grammar mastery. This means simple present tense had effect to grammar
mastery not only on simpe present tense, but also in other tenses.
