Title : The Challenges For Students In Writing English Thesis State

Islamic University Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi

Student Challenges in Writing Thesis is one of the problems often experienced by
students. Many students do not understand academic writing for thesis. The purpose of the
study isTo determine the challenges for last students in writing English thesis at UIN
Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi. Many students do not understand academic writing for
thesis. This study used qualitative research with source triangulation data collection
techniques. The total sample of this research is the eighth semester students of Tadris
English at UIN STS JAMBI. Based on the results of the study, the challenges faced by
students in writing English theses at Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin State Islamic University
Jambi are divided into two, namely academic factors and non-academic factors. Academic
factors such as Academic Writing Skills, Grammatical Rules, Paraphrasing, while Non
Academic factors are divided into two namely Internal Factors and External Factors.
Included in internal factors are lack of motivation and limited language skills, and laziness,
while external factors are inappropriate feedback and not easy to meet the supervisor.
