Title : Analysis of Grammatical Errors in Students’ Writing
Narrative Text at Eighth Grade of MTS S Nurussa’adah
Teluk Rendah Ilir

The aim of this study are to know the students’ grammatical errors in
writing narrative text at eighth grade students’ in MTS S Nurussa’adah Teluk
Rendah Ilir. This research used qualitative method. The researcher used document
analysis to analyze the data from the participants. After doing several analyses,
the researcher found that omission dominates the cause of errors.
The result of the research shows the errors made by the students based on
surface strategy taxonomy are classified into omission, addition, misformation,
and misordering, the researcher found 95 errors consisting of 39 or 41% errors of
omission, 7 or 7.4% errors of addition, 28 or 29.5% errors of misformation, and
21 or 22.1% errors misordering. After doing several analyses, the researcher
found that omission dominates the cause of errors.
