Title : Students’ Perception in English as a Foreign Language

(EFL) Writing at SMAN 1 Muaro Jambi

This study discusses students' perceptions of writing English as a foreign language
at SMAN 1 Muaro Jambi. This study explores the perceptions of students who have
experience in writing English as a foreign language. This study uses a quantitative
method in the form of a survey. This method is considered an appropriate approach
for this type of research. Data collection was carried out by distributing
questionnaires via a Google Form link on WhatsApp. The research participants
consisted of 35 students from class F1, 36 students from class F2, and 36 students
from class F3 in the eleventh grade. The total number of research participants was
108 students. The results of this study obtained positive responses regarding
students' perceptions of writing English as a foreign language with an average
percentage of 61.28% categorized as “Good”. The questionnaire used in this study
consisted of 20 items. The questionnaire covered several components, namely
vocabulary, grammar, content, and mechanics in writing English.
