Title : ―An Analysis of Students‘ Learning Interest on English Subject at The State
Islamic Senior High School 1 Jambi City‖

This study aims to find out the students‘ interest of eleventh grade at Senior High
School 1 Jambi City in learning English and also to know the factors that affect
students' interest in learning English. The design of this study was descriptive
qualitative which describes the students‘ interest in learning English of eleventh grade
Senior High School 1 Jambi City and the factors that influence students' interest in
learning English. The techniques used to collect data were observations and
interviews with the subjects of eleventh grade Senior High School 1 Jambi City. The
result of this study showed that the students eleventh grade Senior High School 1
Jambi City were high interest in learning English. Most of the students excited and
enjoyed the learning process, it is can be seen and known from the students‘ answer
of interview that researcher conducted. Students‘ activity in the classroom showed
that they were happy and enjoy the learning process. Then the factors that affect it
were: 1. Internal factors: health, readiness, attention and intelligence. 2. External
factors: family, teachers, school facilities and classmates. Suggestions for future
researchers, hopefully this research can become a reference for future researchers
who are interested in raising the same theme, and so that further researchers can study
more about this theme.
