Abstract

ABSTRACT
Name : Chechillia Sandra Putri
Study program : English Education
Tittle : “Students’ Perception of Using Digital Reading Texts:
A Survey at English Education Study Program of UIN
STS Jambi”.

This study explores the perceptions of students regarding the use of digital
reading texts in reading classes at the English Education Study Program of UIN
STS Jambi. In the digital era, reading through electronic formats like e-books and
online articles has become common, especially in educational settings. This
research, employing a descriptive quantitative method and survey design,
involved sixth-semester students who used digital texts in their academic learning.
Data were collected through closed-ended questionnaires and analyzed using
descriptive statistics via SPSS. The findings reveal that students generally have a
positive perception of digital reading texts, appreciating their accessibility,
interactivity, and flexibility. However, challenges such as screen fatigue,
distractions, and limited digital literacy skills were also identified. Despite these
drawbacks, students acknowledged the usefulness and ease of use of digital
reading materials in enhancing their reading skills and academic performance. The
study suggests that integrating digital reading texts in English education is
beneficial, provided that appropriate digital support and guidance are offered to
maximize learning outcomes.
