Learn Speaking English in SMA Negeri 3 Sungai Lilin
This study investigates how students at SMA Negeri 3 Sungai Lilin
perceive the process of creating TikTok videos as part of their language learning,
with a particular focus on its impact on their confidence, fluency, and motivation.
By employing a qualitative approach, the research gathered data through in-depth
interviews, observations, and documentation. The study also compares these
findings with established language learning theories to offer a deeper
understanding of TikTok’s role in modern education.
The findings reveal that students actively use TikTok and view it as a
powerful tool for boosting their English-speaking skills. Through creating and
sharing content, students reported improvements in their confidence, fluency, and
overall motivation to engage with the language. Integrating TikTok into teaching
boosted student engagement, motivation, and confidence in speaking English. It
allowed students to express themselves creatively, get useful feedback, and work
with classmates. The project successfully connected traditional language learning
with students' digital interests.Students noticed big improvements in their
pronunciation, fluency, and overall communication skills because they repeatedly
created, refined, and shared TikTok videos. TikTok's interactive and social
features encouraged students to practice more often and with more enthusiasm,
leading to better language development. The project’s teamwork aspect created a
supportive learning environment where feedback from peers and teachers was
crucial for progress. Overall, the project improved students' language skills and
greatly increased their confidence in public speaking and presentation.
