Title : The effect of TED-Talk in public speaking class at senior high school
Darul Arifin jambi
This research aimed to find out the improvement of students‟ speaking
skill by using TED Talks video to improve students‟ speaking skill in terms of
accuracy and fluency. This research applied Quasy experimental research with
pclass pre-test and post-test. The sample of the research was madrasah Aliyah
Darul Arifin Jambi of 2023/2024 which consisted of 42 students who were
divided into experimental groups and control groups, using purposive random
sampling techniques. The data collection instrument in this research, researcher
asked the student to share their random experience in front of the student.The
students‟ speaking problems in accuracy and fluency could be reduced by using
TED Talks video it proved by the result of finding, the mean score of students
accuracy were 79,52. While the mean score of students‟ fluency were 75.71 The
result of the improvement also proved with t-test value. The researcher found that
t-test was greater than t-table(2.585>0.575) It means that there was significant
difference between the result of the students‟ pre-test and post-test. In other
words, the use of TED Talks video was effective to improve students‟ speaking
skill in terms of accuracy (vocabulary) and fluency (smoothness) at the
Madrasa Aliyah Darul Arifin Jambi.
