This research analyzed traumatic experiences. Traumatic experience is when someone
experiences an event that makes them feel threatened, helpless, afraid and this can change their
behavior in the future, as happened to the main character in the Good Night Mommy film by Matt
Sobel. The aims of this research are (1) to explain the causes of traumatic experiences towards
the main character as seen in the Good Night Mommy film by Matt Sobel (2) to explain the
impacts of traumatic experiences towards the main character as seen in the Good Night Mommy
film by Matt Sobel. The researcher used two theories from Peter Levine and the American
Psychiatric Association community and used a psychological approach to support this thesis.
This research used qualitative methods and used descriptive techniques. This research used
several procedures. First, collected all data obtained from the Good Night Mommy film and
other sources, collect images, and analyze using descriptive techniques. Then the researcher
analyzed the problems related to the main character depicted in the Good Night Mommy film.
The research results show that there were are three causes of traumatic experiences in the main
character, namely Severe Emotional Childhood, Betrayal, and Experiencing Violence. The
researcher found that there were three impacts experiences by the main character, namely
Stressor, Re-experiencing, Avoidance, and Hyperarousal.
