Title : The Effect Of Media Pop-Up Books for Students’ Reading
Comprehension at SMPIT Ahmad Dahlan Jambi.

This research aims to determine the effect of using pop-up books on students’
reading comprehension at SMPIT Ahmad Dahlan Jambi. This research is a
quantitative study with a quasi-experimental design. The samples of this study
were 16 experimental class students and 20 control class students using cluster
random sampling technique. The data collection instrument in this study was a
short essay test consisting of pre-test and post-test. Based on the data analysis of
the research results and hypothesis testing carried out, the effect on learning
outcomes shows that the average in the experimental class is in the medium
category, while the average in the control class is in the low category. This can be
seen from the pre-test results before treatment and post-test results after treatment
in both groups. The average value of the experimental class pre-test was 55.75 and
the average value of the post-test was 66.88. Meanwhile, the average value of the
pre-test in the control class was 51.00, and the average value of the post-test was

51.75. This is also shown in the post-test t test results. Both classes from the pre-
test and post-test values obtained normal and homogeneous data with a

significance of (0.05). The result of the t-test analysis shows that the t-count is
6.068 with a significance of 0.000, the significance value shows 0.000<0.05 so
that (H1) is accepted. It can be concluded that pop-up books are effective for
teaching and assessing in reading comprehension of narrative text for grade VIII
students of SMPIT Ahmad Dahlan Jambi.
