Title : The Effect of TTW (Think, Talk,Write)
Strategy in Teaching Writing Skill for
Descriptive Text at SMAN 11 Muaro Jambi
This research aims to find out the effect of the Think, Talk, Write (TTW)
strategy on students' writing skills in descriptive texts at SMAN 11 Muaro Jambi
in the 2023/2024 academic year. The method used in this research is a quasi-
experimental design with two groups, the experimental group taught by using the
TTW strategy and the control group taught by using lecturing methods. This
research involved 54 students who were divided into experimental class and
control class, and used Cluster Random Sampling technique. Data were collected
through pre-test and post-test to measure students' writing abilities. The results of
the analysis show that there is a significant difference between the post-test scores
of students who were taught using the TTW strategy and those who were not. It
could be seen from the pre-test result before treatment and post-test result after
treatment in both of group. The mean score pre-test of experimental class was
50.15, and the mean score post-test was 74.41. Meanwhile, the mean score pre-
test control class was 46.00, and the mean score post-test was 62.96. Both of class
from pre-test and post-test score got a normality and homogeneity data with
significant (0,05). It indicates that the Ha1 was accepted. From these findings, it
can be concluded that there is significant effect of the Think, Talk, Write (TTW)
strategy in teaching writing skills for descriptive text at SMAN 11 Muaro Jambi.
