: Spelling and Punctuation Errors Found on
Banner and Billboard in Jambi city

This thesis discusses the types of spelling and punctuation errors that are often
found on banners and billboards in the Mayang and Telanai areas of Jambi city. This
research is designed to find the types and factors of spelling and punctuation errors
that are often encountered on banners and billboards, one of the factors is the lack of
knowledge about punctuation and writing rules. But there are several other factors
that make researchers interested in researching further. The method of data collection
is by using documentation. This research uses David's theory to answer the types of
spelling and punctuation errors, then uses Richard's theory to answer the factors of
spelling and punctuation errors. This research uses descriptive qualitative research
method. The object of this research is banners and billboards, there are 23 banners/
billboards sampled in this research. In this study, researchers found 10 banners/
billboards on the types of spelling errors and their factors and 13 banners/ billboards
on the types of punctuation errors and their factors. The purpose of the research is to
find out the types and factors of the meaning of a problem that comes from a writing
then analyzed extensively to be described and given a conclusion.
