In this study, the writer analysis the crisis of adolescent life as seen by the main
character in the Look Both Ways movie. This study aims (1) to know about the phases of
quarterlife crisis experienced by the main character in the Look Both Ways movie by Wanuri
Kahiu, (2) to find out about the causes of quarterlife crisis experienced by the main character
in the Look Both Ways movie by Wanuri Kahiu, (3) to explain the impacts of quarterlife
crisis experienced by the main character in the Look Both Ways movie by Wanuri Kahiu.
This study uses a descriptive qualitative method. The data source in this study is the dialogue
spoken by characters in the movies. In collecting data, the writer uses Sugiyono's
documentation theory, while in analyzing data, the writer uses qualitative analysis by Miles
and Huberman. The result in this study shows that; first, there are five phases of the
quarterlife crisis; feeling of being trapped in life situation, to make achievements in life, fear
of failure at achievements, building a new foundation of life goals, and building new
commitment based on interest and moral value. Second, there are two causes of the
quarterlife crises; disappointment and pressure from other people's expectations Third, there
are three impacts of the quarterlife crisis; feeling unhappy, unwilling to talk about personal
matters, feeling stressed, and self doubt.
