This research analyzes the introverted personality in the film Carrie 2013.
Introvert is a personality that leads to the subjective world, individuals who have
this personality prefer to avoid communicating with other people, are quiet,
closed, are careful, pessimistic, thinker, do not like to socialize, like to be alone
and centered on herself. This study analyzes the factors and aspects of introverted
personality experienced by the main character in the film Carrie 2013 directed by
Kimberly Ane Peirce. The main purpose of this research is to; (1) identify the
factors of introverted personality as seen in the main character in the film Carrie
2013, (2) describe the aspects of introverted personality as seen in the main
character in the film Carrie 2013. The analysis only focuses on the main
character, named Carrie White. Researcher apply a psychological approach. The
design of this research is descriptive qualitative. The data sources in this study are
all conversations, dialogues, and scenes in the film Carrie 2013 related to
introverted personality. Technique of data collection used is documentation. The
researcher used J.D Tine Donsu's theory about the factors of introverted
personality, namely genetic factors and environmental factors. The researcher also
used H.J Eysenck and Glenn Wilson’s theory about the aspects of introverted
personality, namely Inactivity, Unsociability, Carefulness, Control, Inhibition,
Reflectiveness and Responsibility. The results of the study show that, (1) there are
two factors which cause introverted personality, namely genetic factors and
environmental factors (family environment and school environment), (2) there are
three aspects of introverted personality namely Unsociability, Carefulness and
Reflectiveness.
