The study discusses the transformation of transgender identity into
transsexual identity in the novel The Danish Girl by David Ebershoff, this
study aims to find out how the phenomenon of transgender into transsexual
experienced by the main character in the novel The Danish Girl by David
Ebershoff. The reseacher also explained the factors that cause the main
character in the nove The Danish Girl to choose to be a transgender to perform
surgery and become a transsexual. In this study the reseacher also explained
casual factor and expalained theimpact experienced by main character in the
novel so tha he had become trangender and transsexual. The research data
taken from the novel The Danish Girl by David Ebershof with a total 324
pages. In this study reseacher used the Queer theory to answer the formulation
of problem in their research. The result of study found that there are two
factors that cause the main character to choose to be transgender and
transsexual, the firts factor is environmental factors and the second is the
childhood experience factor, whereas the impact experienced by the main
character in the novel The Danish Girl by David Ebershoff is social issues
which include negative stigma, feeling insecure and rejection from family and
society.
