Title : The Role of Teacher in Teaching English at SMPS Kanjeng
Sepuh Simpang Kertopati
This research aims to determine the role of teacher in teaching English at
Kanjeng Sepuh Simpang Kertopati Junior High School. The method used in this
research is a qualitative descriptive method. In this research, researcher used
observation and interview to collect data. Researcher found several teacher role in
teaching English, namely controlling, reminding, participating, resource person and
tutor. The role of the Kanjeng Sepuh Simpang Kertopati English Language Teacher is
as a quality teacher who is able to create and implement well-structured learning
programs. The teachers’ role can be controller, prompt, participant, resource person
and tutor. The teachers’ role must start with creating a comfortable and enjoyable
feeling in the classroom. The feeling of comfort and enjoyment that arises in the
learning process in class is certainly able to make students feel at home and focus for
a long time in learning activities in class. Fun learning can create high learning
motivation in students. Therefore, teacher must have the ability to teach good and
enjoyable English lessons to students.
