Title : Students’ Problems in Speaking English at Seven Graders

at Junior High School

The purpose of this study was to find out students’ problems in speaking
English at seven graders at junior high school 10 in jambi city. This is qualitative
research with case study design. A case study design aimed to describe a
phenomenon in SMPN 10 Jambi City about students problems in speaking
English at seven graders. The respondent of this research is the students at seven
graders that consist 5 students. This research used interview and observation as
instruments to collect and analyze the data.
The result of this research showed that the most from respondent have
problems in speaking English. The students have in linguistic problems are
pronunciation, lack of grammar, difficult to memorize vocabulary, and fluency to
learning speaking English. Furthermore, the cause of students in psychological
problems by the research that happened are they lack of self-confident, nervous,
shyness, anxiety, and afraid making mistakes. The researcher also found the
solution of students problems in speaking English, namely the students needed to
conducive class, the students must be learning more about the vocabulary , and
also the students must be more practice in the class.
