Stockholm Syndrome is another example of psychological adaptability caused
by emotional trauma. Stockholm Syndrome describes the psychological
condition of a victim who identifies with and empathizes with their captor or
abuser, as well as the goals of the captor. This study focuses on analyzing
Stockholm Syndrome using the film Beauty and the Beast (2017). The aim of
this research is to identify and analyze the symptoms, causes, and impacts of
StockholmاSyndromeاareاexperiencedاbyاBelle’sاcharacter.اTheاdata used in this
research are all the dialogues spoken by the characters in the film. The method
used in this research is descriptive qualitative, which provides a detailed
description of the phenomenon being studied, and uses documentation
techniques as the method of data collection. The researcher used three theories
to analyze data related to Stockholm Syndrome in the film Beauty and the Beast
(2017). The first theory is the symptoms of Stockholm Syndrome proposed by
Kuleshnyk (1984). Next, the researcher utilized Graham’s (1987) theory on the
causes of Stockholm Syndrome. Lastly, the researcher applied the theory on the
impacts of Stockholm Syndrome as outlined by Graham and Rawlings (1991).
The results of this research are (1) There are three symptoms associated with
Stockholm Syndrome. (2) There are four causes that trigger Stockholm
Syndrome. (3) There are four effects caused by Stockholm Syndrome.
