Title : Students’ Perception on the Use of Authentic Material
on English Learning at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 3
Jambi City

This research aims to determine students perception on the use of authentic
material in English language learning. This research was conducted at Madrasah
Aliyah Negeri 3 Jambi City. Especially class 11 Science 1 in the 2023/2024
academic year. The design of this research is a case study using a qualitative
approach. This research collects data through interviews and documentation.
Interviews were conducted involving 15 students from class 11 Science 1 who
were motivated and responded well to the use of authentic material in learning
English. This interview was conducted for approximately 20 to 25 minutes.
Meanwhile, documentation is taken from students learning plans in using
authentic materials, namely invitations and songs as student learning media. The
results show that the use of authentic materials can increase students interest in
learning English, make students feel like they have new experiences, and make
students interested in learning English. But sometimes students still find it
difficult to mention new vocabulary.
