Title :STUDENTS’ MOTIVATION TOWARDS LEARNING
ENGLISH IN NINTH-GRADE STUDENTS OF MADRASAH TSANAWIYAH
NEGERI 1 BATANG HARI

This study aimed students’ motivation towards learning English in ninth-
grade students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah in Batanghari. Qualitative research was

used to examine this research. The Interviews were used to collect the data. The
participants were six students at ninth grade of one of Madrasah Tsanawiyah in
Batanghari. In doing the interview, the participants shared their feeling about the
motivating factors in learning English in Madrasah Tsanawiyah. The result of the
study are , there were three main motivation factors in learning English in Madrasah
Tsanawiyah. They were English for future career, English for understanding other
cultures and English for knowledge.
