Title : The Effect of Mind Mapping Techniques in Teaching Students'
Reading Comprehension in Grade Nine of SMP N 30 Muaro
Jambi.
The purpose of this research is to see the effect of using Mind-mapping
techniques on students' reading comprehension and to see the differences in
learning outcomes between students who are taught using Mind-mapping and
students who are taught without using Mind-mapping. This research was
conducted in class IX A as an experimental class with a total of 27 students and
class IX C as a control class with a total of 27 students who were students from
SMP N 30 Muaro Jambi. This research is a quasi-experimental research. There is
a T test carried out to assess the final average results of the experimental class and
control class. The significance value in the paired T-test and Independent T-test
samples is 0.05. If the T-test results are below 0.05, it can be ascertained that the
hypothesis is accepted. While the average value of students' reading
comprehension of the two groups was 0.000. This proves that the use of the Mind-
mapping technique has a significant effect on students' reading comprehension.
However, the independent sample T-test results have a difference in the average
score of 15.55556 and a 2-tailed significance of 0.05. So the researcher concluded
that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. This shows that there is a significant
difference between the experimental class which uses Mind-mapping and the
control class which does not use Mind-mapping which affects students' reading
comprehension in class IX of SMP N 30 Muaro Jambi.
