Title : Students’ Perception of Using Crossword Puzzle in
English Vocabulary Learning
This research aims to explore students’ perception of crossword puzzle in
English vocabulary learning. The study was conducted with eighth-grade students
at SMPN 30 Muaro Jambi involving a total of 55 participants. A descriptive
quantitative method was employed to gain in depth insights into students’
experiences and opinions. Data were collected through questionnaires, focusing
on students’ engagement, motivation, and perceived effectiveness of crossword
puzzle in supporting vocabulary learning. The findings revealed that most students
responded positively, stating that crossword puzzle were not only enjoyable but
also helpful in remembering new words and improving their vocabulary skills.
Additionally, the activity was seen as a refreshing alternative to traditional
learning media. Based on the results, it can be concluded that crossword puzzle
have the potential to be an effective and engaging tool for vocabulary
development. Teachers are encouraged to integrate such activities into their
lessons to foster a more interactive and student-centered learning environment.
