Title : Students’ Difficulties in Speaking English At SMK

Islam Terpadu In Singkut

This study aimed to find out the difficulties that students’ experienced in
speaking English. This research was conducted at SMK Islam Terpadu Ihya
Assunnah especially twelve grades. The design of this research was descriptive
qualitative. Researcher collected data using observation and interviews. The
results showed that students experienced difficulties in speaking English which
consisted of : lack of pronunciation, lack of vocabulary, lack of grammar, other
difficulties faced by students when speaking English were they lacked confidence,
were shy and nervous or anxious. Among these difficulties, the difficulty most
often experienced by students is vocabulary. From the results of this research
show that twelfth grade students at SMK Islam Terpadu Ihya Assunnah Singkut
have difficulty speaking English. The difficulties experienced by all twelfth grade
students were dominant in the lack of vocabulary knowledge.
