This research was conducted to determine the effect of read, cover, remember, retell (RCRR) strategy on students' reading comprehension of the eighth grade students at State Junior High School 14 Jambi City. This research is a quantitative research with quasy experimental design. The sample size was 66 students, 33 students for the control class and 33 students for the experimental class. Data collection techniques used by conducting pre-tests and post-tests. Based on the research that has been done, there is an effect on student learning outcomes after using RCRR in the experimental class, which mean score the pre-test mean score for the experimental class was 48.0, reflecting a low level of reading comprehension. However, following the intervention, the post-test mean score rose dramatically to 84.0. Meanwhile, in the control class, the mean score for the pre-test was 44.0, also indicating a low level of reading comprehension. The post-test mean score improved to 60.0, which indicates that the overall reading comprehension level remains below expectations. Both classes' pre-test and post-test scores obtained normal and homogeneous data with significance values greater than 0.05. The paired sample t-test revealed a t-count of -36.970 with a significance of 0.000, indicating a statistically significant improvement in reading comprehension scores after the intervention. Consequently, the alternative hypothesis (Ha1) is accepted, confirming the effectiveness of the RCRR strategy.Furthermore, the independent sample t-test showed a significance value of 0.000, significantly lower than the alpha level of 0.05, demonstrating a statistically significant difference in post-test scores between the two classes. The mean score for the experimental group was 82.91, while the control group had a mean score of 57.09. Thus, we accept the alternative hypothesis (Ha2) and reject the null hypothesis (Ho2), confirming that the RCRR intervention positively impacted the reading comprehension abilities of the experimental group compared to the control group. So there are significant differences after using the RCRR strategy, which is effective for the reading comprehension of eighth-grade students at State Junior High School 14 in Jambi City.
