"Environmental damage in Indonesia is increasingly worrying with Indonesia's
position as the fifth largest waste producer in the world. Students as agents of
change have a strategic role in environmental conservation efforts, but
observations at UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi show that environmental
awareness among students is still low. This study aims to determine whether there
is a relationship between naturalist intelligence and environmental care attitudes
in students of UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi. This study uses a quantitative
approach with a correlational method. The population used was 99 students
selected through simple random sampling technique. Data were collected using
naturalistic intelligence questionnaires and environmental care attitudes, as well
as interviews. Analysis using Pearson's Product Moment technique showed a
significance value of 0.00 < 0.05 and rcount 0.604 > 0.195, indicating a positive
relationship in the strong category between the two variables, with an effective
contribution of naturalistic intelligence of 36% to environmental care attitudes.
This finding confirms the importance of developing naturalistic intelligence in an
effort to increase environmental awareness in Islamic universities which can be
implemented through environmental education programs."
