"Abstract
This research is motivated by the lack of speaking ability in English in
class XI students of SMA Negeri 7 Kota Jambi. This study aims to determine
whether the use of Meme Image Media has a significant effect on students'
speaking ability in class XI SMA Negeri 7 Kota Jambi. This type of research is
an experiment with a non-equivalent control group or pre-test post-test control
group research design. The population of this study is all students of class 1
SMA Negeri 7 Kota Jambi with class XI Phase F2 as the Experimental class
and XI Phase F1 as the control class. The research data used are the pre-test and
post-test scores of the experimental and control groups. The conclusion of this
study is that the research point of the experimental class is higher than the
control class. It can be seen by 2.33 with 0.57 points. The analysis showed that
the significance (2-tailed) calculated (0.000) is smaller than 0.05 then Ho is
rejected and Ha is accepted. Therefore, the hypothesis, ""there is an effect on
students' speaking skill by using meme media image at eleventh grade of SMA
Negeri 7 Kota Jambi."" Was accepted. For this reason, it is recommended that
teachers use meme image media in the learning process.
